Local Rental Assistance Programs

There are three different local rental assistance programs available. Please select that suits your situation.

1. If you live in the City of Riverside

2. If you live in the County Riverside, NOT inside the City of Riverside

3. If you live in the State of California

If you live in the City of Riverside

  • Funded by the City of Riverside and administered by Fair Housing Council
  • Accepting applications now
  • Must live inside City of Riverside limits (92509 and unincorporated areas do not qualify)
  • Must be at or below 80% AMI
  • Utility assistance also available
  • 100% of past-due rent up to 12 months
  • Can also pay up to three months future rent once late rent is caught up

If you live in the County of Riverside, NOT inside the City of Riverside

  • Funded by County of Riverside and administered by United Way and Lift to Rise
  • Accepting applications now
  • Must live inside County of Riverside
    • Addresses inside City of Riverside limits must apply to City of Riverside/Fair Housing program
  • Must be at or below 80% AMI
  • Utility assistance also available
  • 100% of past due rent up to 12 months
  • Can also pay up to 3 months future rent

  • Online application only

If you live in the State of California

  • Funded by the State of California and administered by LISC
  • Can live anywhere in State of California
  • Pays 80% of past due rent, landlord must forgive 20%
  • Without landlord participation, 25% of rent may be paid
  • Utility assistance also available
  • Will provide up to 12 months past due plus 3 months future rent (80%)
